Who We Serve: MBE Benefits
The MBA is in the business of helping MBE’s overcome growth barriers. We work with established, high-growth potential, certified African-American-owned businesses with sustained annual revenues of more than $1 million located in the three-state, 15-county area known as the Cincinnati USA Region. The MBA also works with newly-formed, high-growth potential MBEs created through acquisitions and joint ventures. Eligible companies are selected to be in the portfolio based on their management’s intention and capacity to create viable and sustainable sizable companies in this region.
The MBA works to maintain diversity in the portfolio among a number of dimensions including: location, size, industry and customers. Currently the portfolio is comprised of companies that fall in the following industry categories:
- Construction & Related Industries: 35%
- Business Services: 20%
- Professional Services: 15%
- Supplier/Distributor: 15%
- Transportation/Logistics: 10%
- Manufacturing: 5%
Approximately 60% of the companies in the portfolio have revenues of less than $10 million, with 25% of the portfolio earning revenues greater than $25 million.
